Hotel Soundproofing
What Hotel Soundproofing Can Do for Your Business
One of the most common complaints guests have about their hotel stay is noise. The voices from the room next door, the sounds of the cleaning staff in the hallway, the rattle of the ice machine down the hall, the noise from the room above...guests don't return to a hotel if their first stay is restless.
When you provide guests with a soundproofed room, you provide a superior experience. Guests return to your hotel and let their friends know. They rate your hotel highly online. Your business is improved and your revenue increases.
Hotels come to Soundproof Cow because they're getting complaints from guests about noise. Once they install hotel soundproofing, they realize the business their noisy rooms were costing them!

Hotel Soundproofing and Sound Absorption: What's the Difference?
Sound is like water. It doesn't have a shape or form, but molds itself to its surroundings. And like water, sound can be absorbed by some materials and contained by others. Click here to learn more sound basics.
Hotel sound absorption products soak up sound. They absorb sound waves and prevent them from bouncing off the walls. They improve the quality of the sound within the room. Click here to learn more sound absorption basics.
Hotel soundproofing products trap the sound. They contain the sound within an area, making it impossible for the sound to move to other parts of the hotel. They also stop unwanted sound from entering the rooms. Click here to learn more soundproofing basics.
How Do I Know which Type of Home Soundproofing I Need?
Here's an easy 2-step process to determine which you need:
Step 1: Identify WHAT noise is being heard.
Is it someone's voice? It is the noise of the TV? Is it the vending machine?
Step 1: Identify WHERE the noise is coming from.
Is the noise coming from inside the same space as your guest, or is it coming from a separate area? For instance, is it the sound of the indoor pool adjacent to the room? Is it the echoes from the TV in the same room as you? If there's a construction element, such as a wall, that separates you from the noise, then it's not in the same space as your guest.
Sound absorption products help control the noise that's in the same space as your guest and increase the sound quality of that space.
Hotel soundproofing products stop sound from entering or exiting your space.
Choosing the Right Product for Your Hotel Soundproofing Needs
Hotel Sound Absorption Products
Sound absorption materials stop noise from bouncing off the walls and back into the space.
The result? Echoes are reduced and sound quality of a room is improved. The TV sounds better in the room and the indoor pool is less noisy and more relaxing.
To be able to compare the performance of different sound absorption products, we rate them by how much sound they can take in. This rating is called NRC, which stands for Noise Reduction Coefficient. Click here to learn more about NRC ratings.

Hotel Soundproofing Products
Hotel soundproofing products trap sound. They keep sound in a desired location.
The result? Noise from the vending machine area doesn't bother guests in adjacent rooms. The sounds from one room don't leak into another room. Guests have a quiet and restful stay.
There are four common approaches used in hotel soundproofing. The four ways are: adding mass, increasing or adding air space, decoupling or creating a structural break within the wall assembly, and adding sound absorption material within the wall/ceiling cavities. Click here to learn more soundproofing basics.
To be able to compare the performance of different hotel soundproofing products, we rate them by how much sound they can block. This rating is called STC, which stands for Sound Transmission Class. Click here to learn more about STC ratings.
