Mechanical Room Soundproofing
Why Is Mechanical Room Soundproofing Important?
Noise from the mechanical room is distracting. Even though the equipment is enclosed, the noise can still leak out into the rest of the building. This noise can interfere with production and ultimately cost your company money.
Moreover, the noise can be hazardous to the health and safety of employees. Employees can't communicate effectively, resulting in unnecessary accidents. And over time, exposure to loud noise can permanently damage hearing, especially for those working on the equipment.
Manufacturers come to Soundproof Cow because they want to improve their work environment, protect employees and save money on lost production. With our mechanical room soundproofing materials, noise is reduced drastically.
What Mechanical Room Soundproofing Can Do For You
Mechanical room soundproofing products:
- Provide a safe work environment for employees: accidents caused by poor communication are eliminated and hearing loss is prevented
- Increase productivity by decreasing distractions so your company will benefit with higher profits
- Reduce complaints from neighboring buildings, allowing you to focus on what's most important
Mechanical Room Soundproofing and Sound Absorption: What's the Difference?
Sound is like water. It doesn't have a shape or form, but molds itself to its surroundings. And like water, sound can be absorbed by some materials and contained by others. Click here to learn more sound basics.
Mechanical room sound absorption products soak up sound. They absorb sound waves and prevent them from bouncing off the walls. They improve the quality of the sound within the area. Click here to learn more sound absorption basics
Mechanical room soundproofing products trap the sound. They contain the sound, making it impossible for the sound to move to other parts of the building. Click here to learn more soundproofing basics.
Choosing the Right Product for Your Mechanical Room Soundproofing Needs
Mechanical Room Sound Absorption Products
Sound absorption materials stop noise from bouncing off the walls and back into the space.
The result? Sound quality is improved and employees can hear each other. Accidents caused by miscommunication are stopped. Hearing loss, caused by continual exposure to the equipment noise, is prevented.
To be able to compare the performance of different sound absorption products, we rate them by how much sound they can take in. This rating is called NRC, which stands for Noise Reduction Coefficient. Click here to learn more about NRC ratings.

Mechanical Room Soundproofing Products
Mechanical room soundproofing products trap sound. They keep sound in a desired location. This means the noise from the machines is kept in the room and doesn't leak out for others to hear.
There are four common approaches used in mechanical room soundproofing. The four ways are: adding mass, increasing or adding air space, decoupling or creating a structural break within the wall assembly, and adding sound absorption material within the wall/ceiling cavities. Click here to learn more soundproofing basics.
To be able to compare the performance of different mechanical room soundproofing products, we rate them by how much sound they can block. This rating is called STC, which stands for Sound Transmission Class. Click here to learn more about STC ratings.
