Features / Benefits
Good Sound Absorption Characteristics — If you’re mixing music in a recording studio, reducing ambient sound is a must. Any unwanted noise can ruin the recording. However, if you’re assembling your own studio, you want acoustic foam panels that are effective enough for you to get great sound, but affordable enough that you can fully insulate the studio against excess noise. Convoluted Acoustic Foam Panels absorb sound generated at low, mid and high frequencies, making them perfect for recording or listening environments.
Quality — You may be concerned that because convoluted egg crate soundproof foam is so lightweight and affordable, it’s of lower quality than other acoustic foam panels. Rest assured, however, that Convoluted Acoustic Foam Panels are made with flexible, professional grade acoustic polyurethane foam, designed for quality sound absorption in a wide variety of soundproofing situations. The foam is consistent in density and firmness, so sound absorption performance will also be consistent.
Value — Convoluted Acoustic Foam Panels are so popular because they are our most cost effective, studio grade sound absorption product. Because they are lightweight with a design that requires less material, we can afford to provide egg crate soundproof foam panels at a very low cost relative to other acoustic foam panels. This can be very important in situations where you have to cover a large area with acoustic material, such as a studio or a theater. It’s much better to cover an entire room with egg crate soundproof foam panels than to just cover part of a room with thicker, more expensive soundproof installation. Convoluted Acoustic Foam Panels are high performance sound absorption acoustic panels at a great price.
Ease of Installation — If you’ve ever seen egg crate soundproof foam before, then you know what a breeze it typically is to work with. Since it’s not a high density foam, you won’t have to wrestle with it as much to get it where it needs to go. Convoluted Acoustic Foam Panels are lightweight and can be attached to a variety of surfaces. No special tools or materials are needed for installation.
Fiber Free — When working in enclosed spaces that aren’t as well-ventilated or that contain very sensitive features, avoiding airborne pollutants is of vital importance. Convoluted Acoustic Foam Panels are safe to use in areas where dust and debris cause issues.
Flammability — Fire safety is an extremely important issue when working with foam, especially in enclosed spaces. Convoluted Acoustic Foam Panels are manufactured from polyurethane foam that has a flammability rating of UL94 HF-1. Before choosing this product, be sure the flammability rating passes your local building code for exposed materials.
Why use our Convoluted Acoustic Foam Panel?
Proper acoustics are essential in a recording studio. One echo or flutter, can mean the difference between a marginal or high quality recording and one that turns into an expensive project that needs to be redone. Our value-priced Convoluted Acoustic Foam Panels are a good solution for the sound control needs in your recording studio. Whether you’re a hobbyist, or a professional committed to producing first-class results, our Convoluted Acoustic Foam Panels will save you the time of having to redo a track because of background noise.
How Is Convoluted Foam Different From Other Types of Acoustic Foam Panels?
You’ve probably seen convoluted foam before, although you may have heard it referred to as egg crate foam. If this is your first foray into soundproofing, your only experience with convoluted foam may have been with an egg crate foam mattress, which is a piece of foam with ridges and valleys like an egg carton usually placed on top of a sleeping surface for more comfort and support.
The convoluted foam or egg crate foam you would use for soundproof foam panels is similar to the egg crate foam mattress — it’s just being used for a different purpose. Its appeal is the density, making it easier to cut to whatever standards you may require, but it is still effective at absorbing sound, due to its texture and shape. There may be other acoustic foam panels that absorb more sound, but the convoluted or egg crate soundproof foam is often the best value.
Keep in mind all egg crate foam is not the same. You can’t just nail a few egg cartons to your wall or pull your egg crate mattress off the bed and call it a day. We use quality polyurethane foam that meets our exacting standards, so you get real soundproofing power for your money. If you try to use a different acoustic foam substitute, you may not get similar results.

Polyurethane Foam Warning
All Polyurethane Foams, including Combustion Modified Foams, will burn. Do not expose to any flame source. Once ignited, they can produce rapid flame spread, intense heat, dense smoke and toxic gases causing death. Warnings should be given to your employees and or customers. Test data does not necessarily reflect a foam’s performance under actual fire conditions. Before purchasing any foam, be sure to check with your local code officials to confirm the required flammability rating of exposed materials for your area.
