Description

The isoTRAX™ Soundproofing System works by combining several different soundproofing strategies into one easy to use package. Designed to be installed inside of a wall or ceiling, the isoTRAX™ kit contains 5 sound isolation rails, which are used to decouple or separate the drywall from the studs in your assembly. The kit also includes 18 visco elastic sound deadening pads, which help eliminate vibrational noise and further reduce the sound transmitted.

Noise Reduction Performance — The Sound Transmission Class (STC) ranges from 52 - 61 when applied to 16 inch on center, 2x4 wood stud walls.

Ease of Installation — isoTRAX™ requires a basic understanding of common construction techniques. This product was engineered for the do it yourselfer and contractor alike.

Affordable — One package covers up to 64 SqFt. Total installed cost is lower than comparable soundproofing systems. Everything you need to soundproof your environment is included and delivered to your door.

Versatility — isoTRAX™ will reduce sound transfer on existing and newly constructed walls or ceilings. isoTRAX™ can be installed on wood or steel studded walls.

Basic rules

isoTRAX™ spaced no more then 24 inches apart vertically
isoTRAX™ Pad spaced no more then 48 inches apart horizontally
The bottom row of isoTRAX™ should not exceed 6 inches from the floor.
The top row of isoTRAX™ should not exceed 6 inches from the ceiling.
An isoTRAX™ Pad needs to be installed at each end of the isoTRAX™.
¼ gap at top, bottom and adjacent wall locations...to be filled with acoustic sealant.
isoTRAX™ can be cut or trimmed with a pair of tin snips

Tools Needed: Drill, ¼ inch hex head driver, Tape measure, Chalk line Pencil or marker, Tin snips (if trimming required)

Materials Needed:Acoustical Sealant, ¼ inch shims / spacers, R19 insulation (Quiet Batt™) is recommended for best performance)

“At first I didn’t understand what the ISOTRAX did at all, but luckily I was able to talk with Kellen at Soundproof Cow and he was very helpful in explaining how it causes a “structural disconnect”. The other issue was my handy man who was installing them was having the hardest time in the world imagining how it would install and once he saw the instructions he said to himself, “Like furring strips,” and was able to install it pretty quick from there. Everything went without a glitch and now my wall is soundproofed.”

At first I was a little bit irritated because I thought I did exactly what the instructions told me on the ISOTRAX I was still getting the same noise issue I had before I spent $2500 to get stuff to stop it. I called in and started yelling, much to the guy on the phone’s surprise. Once I was calmed down he told me that it could be an issue where my new drywall wasn’t installed correctly. I checked, and lo and behold I found a bunch of spots that I messed up. Once I fixed it I didn’t have any of my old sound issues being heard. Money was very well spent.

The ISOTRAX was great, within three days of ordering the material it was at my door, I didn’t have to pay anything extra, and it was here when the person I talked to on the phone said it was going to be here. I haven’t installed it yet but if it is anything like the service you have a customer for life.

I’m glad I was able to call in and speak with someone so knowledgeable about the ISOTRAX because at first I did not see how it would benefit me at all. After the guy I called in and spoke with broke down how it works it made a lot of sense to me. Being that I have no construction experience I hired someone to install it, he had no problem doing it and had the full wall done and drywalled in a day. If I have another opportunity to use the ISOTRAX I definitely would.
